Canadian Communications Policy and Legislation: Time for a Review

The Canadian Chapter of the International Institute of Communications (IIC Canada) is delighted to announce that all seven members of the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Legislative Review Panel (BTLRP) have agreed to attend this year's IIC Canada Communications Policy Conference in Ottawa. From our opening morning plenaries moderated by Greg O'Brien to the closing session where conference attendees will get to participate in a "Town Hall" session with the BTLRP moderated by Lawson Hunter, come to hear and meet the top communications regulators, policy makers and lawyers from Canada and the U.S. as they debate the key issues affecting broadcasting, telecommunications and the Internet today.

Registrants will hear keynotes and panels on topics including:

  • On-the-ground realities of regulation in a global environment
  • Legislative changes required in the area of data protection and privacy
  • Using blockchain to support the Canadian audio-visual sector
  • The use of artificial intelligence and possible policy and regulatory responses
  • The CBC's role in tomorrow's world
  • The impact of Telesat's Global LEO Satellite Constellation
  • And many more

Registrants may also receive continuing professional development (CPD) credits from the Law Societies in Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, New Brunswick and Alberta, as applications will be made by IIC Canada for accreditation. Details to follow.
